Taken from Bulwer-Lytton's book, The Pilgrims of the Rhine , and based on various legends of the area. Martin inserted a few moralizing remarks into an interesting Reynard story. The noble, brave, and not too cunning dog is the hero here! VG; extremities rubbed and bumped, a little rubbing through colour on spine creases; very wrinkled, unattractive double-offset tissue guard between title and frontis; some foxing throughout.
